UC Davis Launches Virtual Toy Drive to Brighten Holidays for Kids
The UC Davis Children’s Hospital has initiated its seventh annual Virtual Holiday Toy Drive, aiming to provide festive cheer to pediatric patients who will be spending the holidays in hospital care. Running until December 24, 2023, this online initiative allows donors to contribute gifts directly from home, ensuring that children and their families experience some semblance of holiday joy during their time in the hospital.
Participants can either select specific items from a curated wish list tailored for the young patients or make monetary contributions to aid in purchasing gifts. Donations will benefit not only the UC Davis Children’s Hospital but also the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center and the UC Davis MIND Institute. The funds raised through this drive will facilitate the purchase of gifts for pediatric patients and help stock hospital playrooms throughout the year, including for birthdays and other significant events.
Community Support Makes a Difference
Diana Sundberg, manager of the UC Davis Child Life and Creative Arts Therapy Department, expressed gratitude for the community’s generosity. “Every donation helps bring joy and comfort to children and families spending their holidays in the hospital,” she stated. “Your support truly makes the season brighter for our patients.”
The Virtual Holiday Toy Drive not only focuses on immediate holiday support but also ensures continuous assistance for patients by providing resources for toys and games throughout the year. This comprehensive approach underlines the hospital’s commitment to enhancing the emotional well-being of young patients.
Individuals interested in contributing to the cause can visit the Virtual Holiday Toy Drive website to explore the available options and make donations. This initiative highlights the importance of community involvement in supporting healthcare facilities and enhancing the experiences of children receiving treatment during challenging times.
