CLEVELAND, Ohio – After approximately two and a half years of operation, Midnight Owl Brewing Co. has announced its closure, marking the end of its journey in Shaker Heights. Founders Joel Warger and Rosemary Mudry cited various reasons for their decision, which comes as the local brewery scene continues to evolve.

Located in the former Lucy’s Sweet Surrender on Chagrin Boulevard, Midnight Owl Brewing Co. made a notable impact during its brief tenure. The brewery offered a unique selection of craft beers, contributing to the vibrant local brewing culture. Despite its efforts and community support, the founders ultimately decided to close the establishment.

Warger and Mudry expressed their gratitude to the community for its support over the years. They highlighted the challenges faced by small businesses in the current economic climate as a significant factor in their decision.

Upcoming Events: Burns Night and Brewery Tour

In contrast to the closing of Midnight Owl, Market Garden Brewery is gearing up for its annual Burns Night celebration. This event, which pays tribute to Scottish poet Robert Burns, features traditional haggis, poetry readings, and a selection of beer and scotch. The celebration is held around the time of Burns’ birthday, which falls on January 25, and serves as a festive reminder of Scottish culture.

Additionally, Angels on the Avenue is organizing a brewery tour, with proceeds benefiting Holy Family Home and Hospice in Parma. The tour will transport participants to five different breweries, starting and ending in Middleburg Heights.
