Chocolate Bar Recall Expands Due to Potential Salmonella Risk
Several flavors of chocolate bars sold nationwide have been recalled due to potential salmonella contamination, according to an announcement from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Thursday. The candy manufacturer, Spring & Mulberry, initiated a voluntary recall on Tuesday after testing revealed that a single batch of its Mint Leaf Date Sweetened Chocolate bars had a possible contamination risk.
The recall has since expanded to include additional flavors and lot codes. Products affected by this recall have been on the market since September 15, 2025. While the company has not reported any confirmed illnesses or adverse health effects linked to the consumption of the chocolate bars, they emphasize the importance of consumer safety.
Details of the Recall
In a statement, Spring & Mulberry informed consumers, “Because salmonella can be difficult to detect and may appear intermittently, we are now expanding the recall beyond Mint Leaf in consultation with the FDA to include additional production lots made during the same time period on the same equipment.” The company clarified that all other lot codes are unaffected by this recall.
Customers who have purchased the recalled products are advised to dispose of them immediately. For those seeking refunds or replacements, Spring & Mulberry has provided a contact email, [email protected], where consumers can submit a photo of the lot code along with their request.
The potential health risks associated with salmonella contamination can be serious, prompting the proactive measures taken by the company. The FDA is working closely with Spring & Mulberry to ensure that all necessary actions are taken to protect public health.
As the situation develops, consumers are encouraged to stay informed and check the official FDA website for updates on food safety recalls.
