Remembering Jerrold Cardoza: A Legacy of Service and Commitment

Jerrold Lawrence Cardoza, a dedicated public servant and beloved family man, passed away on December 2, 2025, at the age of 78 after a battle with colon cancer. He is survived by his wife, Dixie Cardoza, their three children, and nine grandchildren, who will remember him for his unwavering commitment to family and community.

Born in 1947 in Merced, California, Jerry pursued higher education at community college and later at Fresno State College. His career began as a Probation Officer in Madera and Sonoma counties, before he spent over 35 years as a State Parole Agent with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

A Life Dedicated to Community Service

Throughout his career, Cardoza demonstrated a strong commitment to public service. He served for more than 25 years on the board of directors of the Millview County Water Department and was a founding member of the Ukiah Valley Water Agency. His efforts in water management were crucial for local communities.

In addition to his work in water management, Cardoza dedicated a decade to the Mendocino Public Safety Foundation, advocating for safety and support within the community. He also served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for foster children, reflecting his belief in the importance of supporting vulnerable populations.

His involvement with the Ford Street Project was particularly impactful, as he believed strongly in helping individuals overcome drug and alcohol addiction. He spent decades on its board, contributing to initiatives that supported recovery and reintegration into society.

Celebration of Life and Memorial Contributions
