Scott Adams Updates Fans from Hospital, Cancels Live Stream
Scott Adams, the creator of the popular comic strip “Dilbert,” communicated with his fans from a hospital room on November 1, 2023, to announce that he would not be hosting his regular live stream, “Coffee with Scott Adams.” Adams, who disclosed his prostate cancer diagnosis earlier this year, had to cut his previous episode short due to feeling unwell.
In two videos shared on social media platforms X and YouTube, Adams explained that he was currently confined to a chair in the hospital due to health concerns. He humorously noted he was “velcroed to a chair,” a situation that prevented him from conducting his usual show.
Adams Provides Update on Health
Adams addressed his audience directly, saying, “Hey people. So, normally I would be doing my ‘Coffee with Scott Adams’ live stream, but you can see the problem. I’m tied to a chair in the hospital.” He reassured his viewers that he would be fine and anticipated being discharged later that day.
While interacting with fans, Adams described the hospital setup: “I’m connected in every way you can be connected to a building. I’m velcroed to a chair. I got things stuck in my arm.” He expressed discomfort during the stream, mentioning pain in one of his legs and the administration of antibiotics, which he speculated might be due to infections acquired while in the hospital.
At one point, Adams acknowledged the 1,000 viewers tuning in live, expressing gratitude for their support. “I just wanted to leave a little record here that I’m here, but the show won’t be here today because somebody tied me to a chair with Velcro,” he remarked, humorously framing his situation.
Calls for Help and Health Insurance Challenges
Adams has been vocal about his health challenges in recent months. On November 2, he publicly asked former President Donald Trump to intervene with his health insurance provider, Kaiser Permanente, regarding a delay in scheduling a critical cancer treatment called Pluvicto. Adams stated that this intervention likely saved his life, and he later reported that Kaiser had responded positively to his concerns, describing their service as a “high-quality product.”
As he wrapped up his live streams, Adams expressed a desire to return home soon, saying, “I just want to go home. So, probably I’ll go home in a few hours.” Fans of the comic creator remain hopeful for his swift recovery and eagerly await his return to the screen.
Throughout this challenging time, Adams has maintained a connection with his audience, blending humor with updates about his health, all while navigating the complexities of a serious medical situation.
