Chef Alessandro Fiorello Launches New Bar Concept in Bryn Mawr
A new dining venture is set to debut in Bryn Mawr Village, with Sicilian-American chef Alessandro “Alex” Fiorello at the helm. Known for his successful Italian restaurants, Fiorello is preparing to launch a bar-focused concept at 915 Lancaster Ave., which will be his third location, as reported by The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Fiorello is already recognized for his two existing establishments: Alessandro’s Wood Fired in Wayne, which specializes in modern southern Italian cuisine using locally sourced ingredients, and Alessandro’s Pizzeria in West Chester, where customers can enjoy a variety of pizzas, cheesesteaks on seeded Sarcone’s rolls, sandwiches, and salads.
The new bar concept, which has yet to be officially named, will feature housemade pasta and wood-fired pizzas, alongside popular items from Alessandro’s Wood Fired. Additionally, the menu will introduce unique offerings such as dry-aged proteins prepared in an on-site aging fridge. The establishment will also incorporate subtle Japanese influences, including sushi-style dishes, as detailed by the local newspaper.
Considerations for the name include Enoteca Alessandro’s or Alessandro’s Enoteca, drawing a nod to the previous Mediterranean-style wine bar, Enoteca Tredici, that once occupied the site. The term “enoteca” translates to “wine bar” or “wine shop” in Italian, highlighting the establishment’s focus on wine and culinary offerings.
Fiorello’s culinary journey began at the young age of 12, growing up in a family of restaurateurs. He previously held the position of executive chef at his father’s establishment, Fiorello’s Cafe, in West Chester. As he prepares to unveil this new venture, the community is eager to see how Fiorello’s experience and creativity will manifest in this innovative dining concept.
As construction and preparations continue, local residents can anticipate an exciting addition to the Bryn Mawr dining scene. Further details about the opening date and menu will be announced in the coming weeks, ensuring that food enthusiasts and community members stay informed.
