Remembering Gloria “Glo” Ronnau: A Life of Love and Service

Gloria “Glo” Ronnau, a beloved matriarch and community member, passed away recently, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion. Born in Los Angeles in 1921 to Henry and Bertha Becnel, Glo enriched the lives of many during her remarkable 104 years.

A Life Defined by Family and Faith

After attending Fremont High School, Gloria began her career at the Owl Rexall headquarters, where she met her future husband, Don Ronnau. Their partnership flourished over the decades, fostering a family grounded in faith and loyalty. Don predeceased Gloria in 2007, but their bond remained a guiding force in her life.

Gloria was the mother of four children: Donny, who passed away in 2023, Diane, who passed in 2022, Ann Sidler, and Carol Randolph. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, including Jennifer Randolph, Vincent Randolph (Krystal), Chris Randolph, Tracy Sidler (Eric), Aidan, and Ben Osterman, as well as her great-grandchildren: Jackson, Julianna, Jillian, Devin, and Tristan. Known affectionately as “Auntie Glo,” she held a special place in the hearts of her nieces and nephews, who cherished her unwavering support.

A Commitment to Education and Community

Gloria became a resident of San Pedro in 1962, dedicating 20 years to the Los Angeles Unified School District. She worked at both Banning High School and Dodson Middle School, where her commitment to education and nurturing spirit left a lasting impact on countless students.

Family was at the center of Gloria’s life. She created a welcoming home where relatives gathered, ensuring everyone felt loved and cared for. Her presence was a source of strength, and many turned to her for support. Gloria’s faith was quietly profound, expressed through her humility and generosity, as she consistently showed up for others without seeking recognition.

Throughout her life, Gloria witnessed significant changes in the world, yet she remained steadfast in her values. Her contributions were not measured by accolades but by her profound devotion to family, faith, and love that transcends her passing.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the Visitation on December 21, 2023, from 14:00 to 18:00 at Green Hills Memorial Park, Cove Room, where a Recitation of the Rosary will take place at 16:00. The funeral mass is scheduled for 10:00 on December 22, 2023, at Holy Trinity Church, followed by burial at Green Hills Memorial Park.
