The landscape of the NFL trade market shifted on Thursday when reports emerged that the Las Vegas Raiders may be open to trading star pass-rusher Maxx Crosby. According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, various teams have perceived a change in the Raiders’ stance, indicating a potential willingness to part with their defensive standout.

A strong contender appears to be the Baltimore Ravens, who are reportedly eager to enhance their pass rush. On Friday, NFL insider Jason La Canfora revealed that the Ravens are prepared to make a significant offer for Crosby, as they face challenges with injuries in their front seven. An unnamed general manager confirmed that Baltimore is ready to “go all-in” on Crosby, suggesting they might offer a first-round draft pick along with two additional picks from Day Two of the upcoming draft.

The timeline for any potential deal could be imminent; La Canfora reported that Baltimore aims to finalize an agreement as soon as the new league year begins on March 15, 2024. The Ravens’ aggressive approach is underscored by their desperate need for impactful players, particularly in the wake of various injuries.

Just days earlier, Dianna Russini from The Athletic noted that Raiders general manager John Spytek and minority owner Tom Brady are seeking a steep price for Crosby, specifically two first-round picks and a player. There seems to be some ambiguity regarding the Raiders’ commitment to trading him, as Russini mentioned mixed signals from the team’s decision-makers.

Crosby, who signed a three-year, $106.5 million contract extension last offseason, reportedly is open to facilitating a trade, which could further entice potential suitors. The situation surrounding Crosby is dynamic, with some analysts previously suggesting that the Chicago Bears might be frontrunners for his services, particularly considering the possibility of him teaming up with rookie quarterback Caleb Williams.

Despite the Bears’ interest, sources indicate that Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta is highly motivated to secure Crosby. Multiple high-ranking NFL officials have conveyed that DeCosta is prioritizing this acquisition, with some executives believing that the Raiders could ultimately receive two first-round picks for their star defensive player.

As the NFL trade deadline approaches, all eyes will be on the negotiations between the Raiders and potential suitors like the Ravens. With a valuable asset like Maxx Crosby on the market, the outcome of these talks could significantly impact the competitive landscape of the league.
