Lake Charles College Prep Dominates LaGrange with Strong Defense
Lake Charles College Prep (LCCP) secured a decisive victory against LaGrange, winning 43-29 on January 16, 2026. The match, held on LCCP’s home court, showcased the team’s defensive prowess, particularly in the second half. This win marked LCCP’s ninth victory in their last ten games, improving their overall record to 14-4.
The game began with both teams struggling to find their rhythm, resulting in a total of 25 turnovers in the first quarter. LaGrange managed to take a narrow lead at halftime, finishing the second quarter ahead 15-14. However, LCCP quickly turned the tide after the break, launching an impressive 11-1 run that set the tone for the remainder of the match.
LaGrange’s Jaden Freeman finally broke through for a basket at the 2:42 mark of the third quarter, narrowing the gap to 25-18. The Gators continued to fight back, with a long pass from Camren Courtney to Nehemiah Harris leading to a layup that brought the score to 30-26 with just 41 seconds left in the third quarter.
Yet, LCCP’s defense proved too strong. The Trailblazers held LaGrange scoreless in the fourth quarter while extending their lead with a 9-2 run, ultimately sealing the game at 39-28. Evan Burns led LCCP with a standout performance, achieving a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. The team dominated the boards, out-rebounding LaGrange 32-25. Jordan Dugas contributed significantly, scoring 11 points and grabbing six rebounds.
LaGrange’s efforts were led by J. Fontenot, who managed to score seven points in the match. Despite their spirited performance, the Gators struggled to maintain their early momentum against LCCP’s relentless defense, ultimately falling short in this closely contested rivalry match.
As both teams continue their seasons, LCCP will look to build on this victory while LaGrange aims to regroup and refine their strategy for upcoming games.
