Remembering Pamela Erbeck: A Legacy of Teaching and Adventure

Pamela Ann Erbeck, a beloved educator and volleyball coach, passed away after a prolonged battle with Alzheimer’s Disease on November 20, 2025. She was 80 years old. Her vibrant life was marked by a passion for teaching, sports, and a strong commitment to family and friends.

A Life Dedicated to Education and Sports

Born on May 2, 1945, in California, Pamela grew up with a love for sports and education. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from the University of California, Santa Barbara, followed by a Master’s degree in Sports from California State University, Long Beach. For over 25 years, she shaped the lives of students at Inglewood High School, teaching Physical Education, Math, and Spanish.

Pamela was also a dedicated volleyball coach, leading the girls’ volleyball team to several CIF championships. Her coaching career not only showcased her skills but also her ability to inspire and mentor young athletes, leaving a lasting legacy that resonated with students and colleagues alike.

A Passion for Adventure and Family

Even after her retirement, Pamela embraced her adventurous spirit. She traveled extensively across the United States, creating cherished memories with friends. Her journeys reflected her zest for life and a desire to explore new experiences.

Pamela is survived by her sister, Linda Herbert; her niece, Laurel Tennant; her nephew, Mark Herbert; and her grandnieces and grandnephews, who brought her immense pride. She also maintained a lifelong friendship with Kathleen Behen, further highlighting her deep connections with those around her.

She will be remembered not only for her professional achievements but also for her unwavering devotion to family and friends. Pamela’s joyful spirit and commitment to her students and athletes touched the lives of many, ensuring her legacy will endure.

A memorial service to honor Pamela’s life will take place at Lighthouse Memorials, Rice Center, in Torrance at 10:00 AM on January 24, 2026. Friends, family, and former students are encouraged to attend and celebrate her remarkable life.
