Researchers Secure £850,000 Grant to Study Campylobacter Dynamics
Researchers at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) have been awarded a grant of £850,000 (approximately $1.1 million) to investigate the behavior of the bacterium Campylobacter. This funding, provided by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), aims to explore how Campylobacter outcompetes other bacteria and adapts to various host environments.
The study is part of a broader consortium effort, reflecting a significant investment in understanding this pathogen, which is a leading cause of foodborne illness worldwide. By examining the mechanisms that allow Campylobacter to thrive in different conditions, the research team hopes to uncover strategies to mitigate its impact on public health.

“This funding will enable us to delve deeper into the complexities of Campylobacter’s survival strategies,”
